Branch spotlight: Building on relationships

The Scottish Branch of RINA draws its strength from a committee that is well-supported by their employers and from a network of partnerships spanning academia, industry and fellow professional bodies.
The most significant is the branch’s relationship with the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering (NAOME) at the University of Strathclyde. Faculty members were involved in the branch’s inaugural meeting, and Strathclyde has remained its cultural home for more than 25 years, hosting most of its lectures and supporting the committee. In turn, the branch supports NAOME students, including attending the university’s annual Maritime Careers Fair to provide impartial advice.
Scottish Branch keeps in close contact with IMarEST’s Scottish branch and the Institution of Engineers in Scotland (IES), regularly hosting joint lectures. It is a point of pride to help IES retain its former shipbuilding links with
