Which membership grade is right for me?

As a Naval Architect or Marine Engineer, your membership grade depends on your qualifications, experience and career stage. See which grade you are eligible for and how to apply below. You can also apply to become Professionally Reigstered with the Engineering Council at the same time as becoming a RINA member. Professional registration


You can apply for your Professional Registration with the Engineering Council while applying for RINA Membership. RINA is a Nominated and Licensed Body of the Engineering Council.

Eligibility: MRINA, FRINA, HONFRINA - dependent on your academic & professional development, you can apply for CEng, IEng, EngTech.

Price: From £37.50 - £63.50 depending on grade.

Benefits: Give employers confidence & trust in your skills with professional registration titles CEng, IEng, EngTech.

2026 Membership Committee Dates:

  • Thursday 5 February 2026 – submission deadline: 15 January 2026
  • Thursday 19 March 2026 – submission deadline: 26 February 2026
  • Thursday 4 June 2026 – submission deadline: 14 May 2026
  • Thursday 3 September 2026 – submission deadline: 13 August 2026
  • Thursday 5 November 2026 – submission deadline: 15 October 2026

 

Submitting your application after a committee deadline means it will be reviewed at the next scheduled Membership Committee meeting.
