We are always looking to appoint Student Ambassadors who will act as a role model and motivator, while providing a vital link between RINA and fellow students.
Students who are studying a subject related to the design, construction and maintenance of marine vessels and structures are ideal. As an ambassador, you will be on hand to offer support, encouragement, and advice when needed.
What you’ll do
As a Student Ambassador, you’ll represent both your university and RINA by:
- Acting as a point of contact for fellow students.
- Promoting free RINA student membership, scholarships, and awards.
- Hosting or supporting a welcome seminar or talk for new students.
- Connecting with your local RINA branch to share updates and opportunities.
- Encouraging students to attend events, conferences, and competitions.
RINA will support you every step of the way - from regular check-ins and an induction pack to a dedicated contact for guidance and collaboration.
In return, you will benefit from:

Who can become a Student Ambassador?
Student Ambassadors are typically studying towards a career in the maritime sector, including subjects related to the design, construction and maintenance of marine vessels and structures. You must also be, or be eligible to become, a RINA Student Member.
What support will I get from RINA?
You’ll receive an induction pack and access to regular check-ins with the RINA team, as well as a dedicated point of contact for advice, resources and ongoing support. Student Ambassadors will also receive a RINA email address.
How much time does the role involve?
The Student Ambassador role is designed to fit around your studies. Your involvement may vary throughout the year depending on activities and opportunities at your university, but you’ll be supported by RINA and can agree what is realistic alongside your academic commitments.
How long does the Student Ambassador role last?
Student Ambassadors can remain in the role while they are studying and eligible for RINA Student Membership.
Can there be more than one Student Ambassador at my university?
Yes, more than one Student Ambassador can represent the same university.
What happens when I graduate?
When you graduate, your involvement with RINA does not have to end. If you are within two years of graduation, you can apply for free Graduate Membership, whether or not you were previously a RINA Student Member.
