Meeting Type:    Hybrid

This presentation provides an overview of subsea cable installation engineering, focusing on the full analytical workflow required to plan and execute while

safeguarding offshore cable operations. It covers key steps in hydrodynamic modelling, transient and dynamic analysis, vessel operability, and cable pull-in/lay assessments.

The session also explains the critical interface between the cable protection system design and installation, drawing on lessons learned where design choices can conflict with installation feasibility. Real project examples insights are also included.

Speakers:

Bijesh Chenna Kandathil

Senior Marine Analysis Engineer

Bijesh began his career in 2013 as a naval architect at Keppel Offshore in Singapore after earning a Master’s in Ocean Engineering from IIT Madras.

Following two years as an Assistant Professor, he became a Senior Marine Analysis Engineer in 2018, designing in-place umbilical systems for Oceaneering

and later Tadek from 2023.

Based in Tadek’s Woking office, he leads flexible analysis and naval architecture projects while mentoring junior engineers. He supports work across O&G, Wind,
