On behalf of the RINA London Branch we would like to invite you to the following online event:
“Beyond the Turbine: Port & Harbour Screening as the Key to Bankable Floating Wind”
presented by Danielle Caruso and Ferdinando Samonà
Date: Thursday, 21st May 2026
Time: 17:30 for 18:00-19:15 hours (duration approximately 1 ¼ hours)
Organiser: RINA London Branch
Meeting Type: Online only
EVENT DESCRIPTION
Floating offshore wind success increasingly depends on port and harbour capability as much as turbine technology itself. This presentation explores how port screening has become a key factor in project bankability, influencing fabrication efficiency, assembly logistics, heavy-lift operations, and deployment risk. It highlights the importance of assessing quay capacity, deep-water access, marshalling space, and tow-out readiness early in project development.
The presentation also examines the growing role of offshore substations as critical infrastructure for floating wind fabrication and assembly strategies. Their scale, integration complexity, and electrical requirements place additional demands on port facilities, making them an essential component of infrastructure readiness assessments. By linking port capability with offshore substation deployment needs, the session demonstrates how integrated harbour planning can accelerate scalable and commercially viable floating wind projects.
