Survitec adopts new MRT trackers

Offshore Marine Technology: 4th Quarter 2019

Survitec will roll out Marine Rescue Technologies’ (MRT’s) new range of AIS-capable, sMRT AU10-HTS personal locator beacons (PLBs) across its range of aviation lifejackets, in a bid to grant an extra layer of safety to helicopter-borne offshore personnel.

Survitec adds that, while MRT’s previous AU9-HT PLB model was restricted to tracking one casualty at a time, the incorporation of AIS into the sMRT AU10-HTS enables the simultaneous tracking of multiple persons. The sMRT AU10-HTS also has a claimed sea range twice greater than that of its predecessor, and is designed to automatically activate after two seconds.
