Safety at Sea Ltd (SaS) is an engineering consultancy specialising in all aspects of naval architecture and safety in the marine environment. The company brings together specialists in seakeeping, manoeuvring, stability, hydrodynamics, ship structures, ship safety and risk analysis.
Safety at Sea is part of the Brookes Bell (BB) Group, following its merger with that company in 2011. Together with the world renowned Marine Engineers, Master Mariners, Cargo & Fuel Scientists, Metallurgists and Surveyors, the Group can offer a complete consultancy service to clients across all aspects of ship design and operation.
The company serves Clients across the marine and offshore industries undertaking a variety of work from feasibility and concept design to risk assessment of marine operations on behalf of designers, builders and/or owners/operators, in advisory, supporting or project leading roles.
The company serves mainly the following sectors:
• Passenger ships Cruise, ferry, high-speed craft, yachts;
• Cargo ships All types including bulk carriers and container ships;
• Fishing vessels
• Special Purpose (SPS) Offshore construction, accommodation offshore vessels;

With a history of more than 15 years’ experience to draw upon, SaS offers a complete ship design verification and optimisation capability to design offices, builders and ship operators. Safety at Sea also provides independent high-quality technical advice to Customers involved in disputes and/or litigation involving rule compliance, ship collisions, grounding, fire and structural failures.
Safety at Sea has also advised on and carried out studies for Clients in various aspects of port design and operations. This activity has previously been delivered independently and in close cooperation with external experts prior to merger with BB. After the merger with BB, the combined capabilities of our mariners and naval architects can be tailored to cover most aspects of port design and operations.
