IMO regs on the allowed sail assist stuucture with out sail or feathering.
I am looking for an IMO ( or other ) directive on the area of structure , spars or other exposed equipment for sail assist vessels.
It seems that there is some rule where by the structure is calculated , when the canvas is removed or when the sail or wing is feathered. I would like to know what area with regard to wind load is permissible for fixed structure other than that of the ship topsides and superstructure.
Ref :
"Since IMO has no criteria for sailassisted vessels the LY@ code for monohull sailing yachts (MCA 2007 ) was applied to assess the influence of sail assist fixed structure on stability."
