Italian yacht and patrol boat production specialist Effebi has announced that it is working on a hybrid-propulsion-enabled patrol boat for domestic police force the Guardia di Finanzia, which will use said newbuild to undertake surveillance tasks within and around the Venetian Lagoon.
The forthcoming vessel will feature a length of 8m, a breadth of 2.45m and a depth of 1.8m, and will be capable of attaining a speed of 37knots in open sea conditions, Effebi says. Meanwhile, when in the lagoon, the boat will operate at 3knots, drawing purely on zero-emission power. The boat will be equipped with DGPS, radar, magnetic compass and infrared cameras.
Classification is being handled domestically by RINA, and delivery is expected in June 2020. Effebi adds that this order contains an option for a further 19 boats.
