Sports cat makes a splash

Ship & Boat International: eNews February 2019

aquila30web

Aquila Power Catamarans reports that it is close to unveiling its new Aquila 30 class of sports boat, with the first model set to make its debut at the Miami International Boat Show in February.

Developed to combine catamaran stability with a wide beam, the Aquila 30 incorporates resin-infused vinylester throughout its hull, deck and bulkheads and features an aft platform that wraps around the outboard engines. The cat has an overall length of 9.93m (including its swimming platform: otherwise, its hull length stands at 8.8m), a breadth of 3.85m and a depth of 2.66m.

The Aquila 30 has a dry displacement of 6tonnes and, when its outboards are raised, draws just 640mm. As with the Aquila 36, the Aquila 30 is intended to operate on a pair of Mercury outboards, which can be rated between 168kW and 224kW per engine.

Onboard capacities include 950litres of fuel, split across two tanks, and 170litres of water. The Aquila 30 can carry a maximum of 16 passengers and sleep up to four persons, two within its salon area. The sports cat has also been fitted with two showers, four bilge pumps and storage lockers.
