Full time or part time Postgraduate study, taught or by research, is available for MSc, MPhil, MRes or PhD degrees. Taught Masters degrees include, Marine Transport with Management; Marine Engineering; Naval Architecture; Marine Technology; Offshore Engineering; Pipeline Engineering; Marine Electrical Power Technology; Marine and Offshore Power Systems; Marine Structures and Integrity; Tropical Coastal Management; MTEC Distance learning MSc Certificate courses and a two year MSc.
Research facilities include a fully upgraded propeller cavitation tunnel, model towing tank, a unique wind wave and current tank, engine laboratories, the Dove marine laboratory, aquaria and the research vessel "Bernicia". The School is active in research into ballast water treatment, hydrodynamics, ship and offshore structures, marine biology, ship design and production, pipelines and ship machinery.
