Design & Construction of LNG Ships
26-27 October 2016
LNG accounts for a significant part of the growth in the global energy supply and despite the recent economic situation the future demand for LNG carriers, floating storage and processing systems is expected to increase.
While some companies are building larger vessels to take advantage of economies of scale, others are looking at developing small vessels for shortsea and coastal trades to help create LNG distribution networks. New and improved containment systems are alo offering the designer a diverse range of options.
There is also a growing interest in floating production, storage and offloading systems for offshore field development and re-gasification systems (FSRU) and plants designed to avoid the need to construct land based processing and distribution centres.
RINA invites papers from naval architects, builders, class societies, operators and researchers on all related topics, including:
- Design of larger capacity LNG carriers,
- Design of shortsea and coastal LNG carriers,
- Design for greater flexibility to cater for spot market trading,
- Novel LNG trading routes: Arctic and beyond
- Floating storage, re-gasification and processing,
- Alternatives to LNG - CNG, PNG, etc.,
- Optimisation of power plants
- Issues associated with partial filled LNG tanks
- LNG ship to ship transfer systems
Selected papers include:
- LIQUEFIED GAS SHIPPING IN THE 21ST CENTURY, Andrew Clifton, General Manager, SIGTTO.
- FLOATING LNG DESIGN DRIVERS AND TECHNICAL CHALLENGES, Keith W Hutchinson, David C Dobson, Babcock International Group, UK.
- DESIGN & CLASSIFICATION OF IMABARI 178,000M3 LNG TANKERS, Hisatsugu Inoue , Taichi Nakatani , Imabari Shipbuilding, Japan, Kazuaki Yuasa , Henry Chung , Lloyd’s Register.
- LNG AS FUEL PROJECTS NEW BUILDS AND CONVERSIONS, Bengt Sangberg, Denmark, Iceland & Sweden Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore.
- AN ECONOMIC STUDY OF LNG CARRIERS WITH DIFFERENT CONTAINMENT SYSTEMS ON SPECIFIC TRADE ROUTES, Thomas Lamb, University of Michigan; Regu Ramoo, ALTAIR Engineering, Inc.
