Paper Title: The Stability of High Speed Small Ship in Transitional Mode
Authors
O O Kanifolskyi, Odessa National Maritime University, Ukraine.
Summary
High speed craft often operate in a regime in which they are supported partially by hydrostatic forces and partially by forces of dynamic origin. This transitional regime has received sparse attention in the past, especially in relation to the early stages of design. This paper seeks to correct this deficiency by estimating the component parts of the vertical force on a vessel in the transitional regime. Force values and locations are found by the use of modern CAD and hydrostatics software, combined with model test data. This information is then used in a discussion of stability in the transitional mode.
