Full Scale Ship Performance online conference 2021
10-11 February 2021
Introduction
With today’s emphasis on hydrodynamic and powering efficiency, and the reduction of emissions and the economic drivers associated with optimum dry-docking intervals, the need for reliable and accurate full-scale measurements of vessel behaviour has seldom been greater.
The development of on-board measurement packages in recent years means it is now possible to measure many on-board parameters either during a formal trial or over a whole voyage.
There are increasing economic and environmental incentives for ship owners and operators to develop tools to optimise operational decisions, particularly with the aim of reducing fuel consumption and/or maximising profit. Examples include real time operational optimisation, maintenance triggers and evaluating technological interventions. Performance monitoring is also relevant to fault analysis, charter party analysis, vessel benchmarking and to better inform policy decisions.
Topics
This conference aims to bring together international specialists and professionals including designers, ship operators, seafarers, equipment manufacturers and regulators to explore these technologies and their application to the maritime industry, including areas such as:
- Case studies of actual full scale measurements
- Analysis of full scale measurements
- Performance modelling
- Calibration of performance models
- Accurate measurement of shaft power and speed through water
- Monitoring and correcting for environmental conditions
- Measurement technology and sensors
- Accuracy/noise and errors bands
Selected papers may be published in the Transactions of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects
