Cathelco have developed a portfolio of products to serve the commercial shipping, naval and offshore oil industries, the most recent being an advanced ballast water treatment system.

The company are world leaders in the design and manufacture of sea water pipework anti-fouling systems with a record of more than 50,000 installations over a period of 50 years. The systems prevent blockages in engine cooling lines caused by the growth of barnacles and mussels.
Cathelco have also developed a range of impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) systems to prevent corrosion on steel and aluminium hulls. The systems are available for vessels of every size, extending from workboats and ferries to cruise vessels, oil tankers and container ships. Recent advances have simplified monitoring and control through greater connectivity with ships’ computer systems.
Over the last decade, the company has diversified into the production of reverse osmosis desalinators (watermakers), first by the acquisition of Seafresh Desalinators and more recently through the purchase of Hydro Electrique Marine (HEM) based in France. As a leading manufacturer of water treatment systems, HEM produce desalinators, water softeners and numerous other types of related equipment.
Cathelco entered the ballast water treatment market in 2014 with a system based on a combination of filtration and UV technology capable of operating in marine, brackish and fresh water. The system has IMO Type Approval and has also received U.S. Coast Guard AMS certification.
Worldwide, customers are supported by a network of 50 agent/installers. This is combined with resources of subsidiaries based in France, Germany, India, Korea, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
