Maritime Partner has secured a domestic contract to build a multipurpose workboat/security monohull for the Port of Bergen, Norway. The newbuild will effectively replace a pair of boats currently used for operations such as small craft towage, personnel transfers, SAR missions and oil pollution response.

Due for delivery in May 2021, the aluminium craft will be built to the specs of Maritime Partner’s Alusafe 1500 MPV class, featuring an overall length of 14.99m, a maximum breadth of 4.9m and a draught of 900mm. It will incorporate a hybrid power arrangement, relying on battery power when manoeuvring and loitering in port waters, before switching to twin diesels when heading out further offshore and/or undertaking high-speed transits.

Complemented by twin waterjets, the boat will enjoy speeds in excess of 27knots when transiting in diesel mode, and of more than 5knots, for two to three hours, when operating in all-battery mode. Other features will include a large front deck and bow ramp, a crane and a spacious bridge. The Alusafe 1500 MPV will be able to store 800litres of fuel, 200litres of fresh water and 50litres of waste water.
