Genoa’s San Giorgio del Porto yard has carried out one of the biggest cruise ship conversions undertaken anywhere in the world in the past 12 months.
Last year saw Singapore’s Keppel Shipyard complete a total of seven FPSO or FSO conversion projects. Two, FPSO Okha and FPSO Aseng, were for Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) Offshore and two more, FSO Sepat and FPSO Armada TGT 1, were for the Malaysian firm, Bumi Armada. The remaining three conversions, FPSO Lewek Emas, FPSO P-58 and FPSO OSX-1 were for Emas, Petrobras and OSX respectively.
Germany’s SAM Electronics has undertaken another notable project involving a cruise liner.
Last year, SAM Electronics successfully upgraded the existing navigation system aboard Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Europa with a NACOS Platinum assembly. A further major retrofit aboard a European-based cruise liner has recently taken place and involved the upgrading of the existing, earlier generation NACOS 3 system aboard TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 1 through the installation of the Platinum version. |
