Significant Small Ships of 2006 describes a wide variety of the most innovative, trend-setting and interesting commercial craft up to 100m in length delivered in 2006 by ship and boatyards worldwide. Newbuildings included in the Significant Small Ships of 2006 volume are:
- Bourbon Orca - the new Ulstein AX104 design for the offshore industry.
- Gavea 1 - delivered this year from Rodriquez Cantieri Navali do Brasil SpA, the Brazilian yard of the Italian Rodriquez Group, entirely built of aluminium.
- Svitzer Al Shamal - a wellhead maintenance vessel, from Singapore's Strategic Marine.
- OISS Patroller - represents the culmination in the development of the Wave Handler class, from shipbuilder Alnmaritec.
- The Evans - a SeaArk Marine delivered a 12.8m Dauntless Class survey vessel to the US Army Corps of Engineers, Navigation Survey Branch, of the Charleston District, USA.
- NLV Pharos - a multi function tender for the Northern Lighthouse Board was built at the Gdansk Stocznia Remontowa yard, Poland.
- HMS Clyde - 80m offshore patrol vessel (helicopter) (OPV(H), the first ship to be built in Portsmouth Naval Base for nearly 40 years, was delivered in October 2006.
