Abstract: In February 2005 The Royal Institution of Naval Architect published Significant Small Ships of 2004, following the success of the previous editions and the lead set by Significant Ships, now in it's fifteenth year of publication. A total of 29 new vessels have been selected for inclusion, each being singularly significant or the first in a series - and these have been divided into categories - fast ferries and passenger vessels, tugs and workboats, fishing, offshore patrol etc: This mixed but fascinating selection of vessels, all between 25m and 100m, have been hand picked by the same editorial team that produces Ship & Boat International, RINA's own leading small ship publication, and is backed by its world-renowned resources.
The publication covers a wide variety of the most innovative, trend-setting and interesting commercial craft up to 100m in length delivered during the year by ship and boat yards worldwide. Each vessel presentation comprises a full page width colour photograph, a detailed technical description, the main particulars in tabular form and a list of major suppliers.
