DAVID M. CANNELL & ASSOCIATES

Established in 1971 David M. Cannell & Associates provide naval architecture, surveying and consultancy services to clients worldwide, ranging from shipyards and vessel owners to Lawyers Underwriters and Finance Houses.

DMC&A work mainly with "small craft" up to 100m length in steel, aluminium alloy, FRP and timber construction including both commercial vessels and pleasure craft.  Large yachts form a significant part of DMC&A's work.

The range of design services available includes not only design of new vessels but also design for modifications and refits as well as restoration of older vessels.

DMC&A regularly act for owners during new building projects, providing advice and technical services from Specification and Contract stages through overseeing construction to sea trials and Acceptance.

DMC&A surveyors undertake pre-purchase condition surveys on vessels worldwide as well as surveys for insurance, valuations for finance, damage surveys and MCA Certification surveys.

Consulting and technical services include structural and stability assessments both for normal operations and in case of damage and salvage, advice on Classification and MCA Codes of Practice matters and powering and performance prediction.

The company has provided expert witness services in a wide range of cases in the High Courts, both in the UK and internationally.  Arbitration and mediation services are also undertaken.

Principal, David Cannell is a Fellow and Past Chairman of the RINA Small Craft Committee and Past President of the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association.
