High Speed Merchant Ships |
On 5 December Nigel Gee, President of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, gave a talk on High Speed Merchant Ships in the National Maritime Museum, Falmouth to more than 80 members, guests and members of the public. In his presentation, Mr Gee gave his view of a future of fast multihulls, ranging from high-speed catamaran ferries, through very long RoPax pentamarans, to very fast pentamaran frigates.

Recovery of HMS NOTTINGHAM |
Two years ago, Lt Cdr Ian Groom RN was awarded the Devon and Cornwall IMarEST prize for the best paper presented to the Branch in the 2003/04 programme for his account of the control of damage to HMS NOTTINGHAM after she collided with Wolf Rock, off Lord Howe Island, in 2002. The sequel to this talk, 'the recovery of HMS NOTTINGHAM,' was given to more than 60 members and guests of the Joint Branch in the Royal Plymouth Corinthian Yacht Club on 9 January 2007 by Nigel Hills, RCNC, of the Defence Logistics Organisation.
