Shipbuilders & Shiprepairers Association
SSA represents UK shipyards and marine services companies engaged in building ships and floating structure, converting them for other uses, repairing & maintaining them.
It has well-established relationships with UK Government Departments and agencies such as Defence Procurement (DPA), Health & Safety Executive (HSE), Defence Logistics (DLO) and Environment Agency (EA).
Through the European Association (CESA) members have access to business interest groups, technical, defence and R&D networks. SSA plays an active role in helping to shape European shipyard policy. It SSA is engaged in investigating new science, technology and innovation through it's R&D arm based in the North East, both trough national schemes and through the EU Framework Programmes.
It is consulted on proposed legislation & regulations and takes a pro-active approach to potential issues affecting the business interests of shipyards.
The Association has the agility to respond quickly to members needs, whether that involves lobbying, registering and industry interest, arranging seminars or setting up special interest groups.
