The partnership was formed in 1972 to provide an independent design, survey and consultancy service for the marine industry.

Murray Cormack have majored in the design of small commercial vessels and developed a range of designs, proven in service around the world, from 6 to over 20 metres in length and of displacement, semi-displacement and planing hull form types. Our design portfolio includes pilot and survey launches, fast patrol boats, passenger ferries, harbour workboats as well as specialist one-off vessels and marine structures. Vessels have been built using steel, aluminium and frp.

Murray Cormack carry out pre-purchase Condition and Valuation Surveys on all types of small craft including sailing and motor yachts and commercial workboats on a worldwide basis.

We also provide a Damage Survey service for both UK and non UK Insurers and Underwriting Syndicates.

We are authorised by YBDSA to inspect vessels for certification under the various MCA Codes of Practice and also to carry out Tonnage Measurement of vessels up to 24m in length.

With extensive experience of hull structures in frp, steel, aluminium and timber - traditional and laminated-epoxy, we regularly oversee the building of new construction projects through to handover, ensuring compliance with specification and performance requirements including finishing standards, trials analysis and stability. Our consultancy service is available for refit of commercial vessels and yachts including contract design and supervision.

We provide an expert witness service for commercial litigation, disputes and accident investigations.
