RINA has joined other leading professional institutions in supporting the Engineering Management Partnership's Postgraduate Development Programme, recognising that today's engineers need not only technical abilities, but effective commercial and strategic management skills. EMP is a consortium of leading UK universities, headed by the University of Bristol, and supported by the professional institutions. The programme was established more than 18 years ago but continues to evolve to ensure that it is at the cutting edge of management training. The portfolio of qualifications currently includes the postgraduate Certificate, Diploma, MSc, MBA and Doctorate in Engineering Management.
The flexibility of the EMP programme is a key strength for today's busy lifestyles, adapting to changes in both professional and personal circumstances and location, including overseas. It offers an integrated study programme that builds on the working processes of the organisation with minimal time away from the workplace. Candidates have the opportunity to demonstrate management capabilities through projects of real value to the organisation, thereby gaining exposure to senior management while delivering solutions and opportunities to the business.
Dr Michael North, EMP Chairman, said "I am delighted to welcome RINA as a supporter of this key initiative which offers a unique three-way partnership between industry, the professional institutions and leading UK universities. EMP is dedicated to providing innovative programmes and services designed to help all those working in the engineering and technology sectors to improve their individual and corporate performance. We look forward to working with RINA to offer its members access to this valuable development programme."
All members of the supporting institutions qualify for preferential registration rates. For further details on the EMP qualifications, please contact Annie Fisher on 01225 386760 or email
The Institution's support for the EMP Distance Learning Programmes follows favourable reports from members who have attended EMP activities. Involvement in the Programmes meets the Institution's requirements for CPD. Also, the Programmes are applicable and available to all members.
