The Royal Institution of Naval Architects has links with a number of maritime organisations and professional societies worldwide.
Confederation of European Maritime Technology Societies (CEMT)
The Royal Institution of Naval Architects is a founder member and member of the Council of the Confederation of European Maritime Technology Societies (CEMT).
CEMT is a federation of most of the leading professional societies of naval architects and marine engineers in Europe. Its object and purpose is to promote the scientific development of maritime technology in all its branches in Europe, by facilitating the exchange of ideas and information between the members of the constituent societies.
The Chief Executive of RINA, Mr Trevor Blakeley, is currently the Chairman of CEMT.
International Maritime Organisation
The Royal Institution of Naval Architects is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Consultative Status with the International Maritime Organisation. The Institution considers that it holds its Consultative Status on behalf of the international naval architecture profession. It therefore invites any organisation representing members of the global naval architecture profession, and who would wish their views to be represented at the IMO, to become members of the IMO Naval Architectural Group. Through this informal group, the Royal Institution of Naval Architects will represent the concensus view of these organisations.
