8th October 2008, RINA HQ, London REGISTER NOW - FREE COURSE

  Introduction
Royal Institution of Naval Architects, in association with Jotun and Cathelco, is holding a free, one-day Corrosion Management Course on 8th October 2008.
Jotun and Cathelco are leaders in the Superyacht market, paints and cathodic protection, and have decided to join forces in order to offer this seminar. The aim of the course is to provide greater understanding of total corrosion prevention for both steel and aluminium underwater hulls by combining coating protection with impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP). Corrosion is a significant concern for everyone involved in the design, management and ownership of Superyachts. The seminar will explain the processes that cause corrosion and how the right design and construction will counter this threat. There are significant maintenance cost savings to be made by following some basic principles that are already common-place for commercial marine vessels.
The core subjects will be:
o Why steel and aluminium corrode o Coatings technology and application (anticorrosives, antifoulings and more) o ICCP technology. In particular, recent developments in aluminium hull ICCP o The inter-relationship between u/water hull coating systems and cathodic protection o The Total Corrosion Control concept
