In October 2007, RINA will be holding an International Conference on The Modern Yacht, to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of all aspects of modern yacht design, construction, operation and survey.

The conference will address all aspects of yacht design including; performance, stability, seakeeping, construction, safety, survey, operation and service experience.  This applies to sailing yachts, both high performance and cruising and to motor yachts, in private or charter service.

The conference will present and discuss advances in technology; methods and concepts that have led to or are expected to lead to improvements in design, operation and survey; including service experience and how classification society requirements and flag administration regulations are meeting industry needs.

Please note that the date for the Modern Yacht conference has moved forward one week to the 11-12 October 2007 (Originally 17-18 October). The venue for the conference remains unchanged - Southampton Solent University.

Information for Authors

Those authors who have been invited to present their papers at the conference will have been emailed the paper format requirements and associated documentation.  If you have not received confirmation, please contact Lewis Northcott - Technical Manager.   The deadline for submission of the final papers is: 7th September 2007.  Papers should be submitted via email to .  If submissions are over 20MB, a CD copy should be posted to RINA HQ.

Fairline 52Authors will also be required to register with our Conference Organiser.  Please return all paperwork in good time.

All authors are also requested to submit their presentations one week before the conference for testing purposes. It is also necessary to bring a copy to the conference on CD ROM / USB drive.
