European Conference on Production Technologies in Shipbuilding

ECPTS 2008, 23-24 October

Overview

The successful application of advanced IT systems as well as knowledge based methods for design and production is clearly identified to have a substantial impact on the competitiveness of the European maritime industry. The focus of this year's conference therefore is on Knowledge Based Ship Production.

Innovative ship designs and optimized production techniques are key factors for the success of European shipbuilders. Maintaining and improving the position of the European maritime industry requires developing strategies to market ships and equipment with outstanding performance.

Research, development and innovation are ever gaining importance for the competitiveness in a demanding global market.

The North of Germany is an important focal point of the European maritime industry. Modern shipyards, leading equipment suppliers and a well developed infrastructure of research centres and universities are collaborating with a strong focus on ship production technologies.
